Diode Laser Marking Machines

Diode-pumped laser markers — the range formerly sold as DPL — built for fine-detail permanent marking across metals and engineering plastics.

The Technology

How diode-pumped marking works

A diode-pumped laser uses a bank of laser diodes to excite a solid-state crystal, which produces a tightly focused, very short pulse carrying high peak power. The beam removes or transforms a thin surface layer without heating the part around it, so fine detail stays crisp and thin-walled components don't distort.

That suits high-resolution work: data-matrix codes, serial numbers, logos and fine graphics on stainless steel, aluminium, brass, anodised finishes and many engineering plastics. Most of the range runs at the standard infrared wavelength; Business Diode Green uses a green source instead, which is absorbed better by reflective metals and by plastics that infrared tends to pass straight through — the reason it is the pick for the most demanding high-contrast detail work.
