Foil Marking & Laser Trimming

Foil marking uses a carrier foil rather than the substrate itself: the laser transfers pigment from the foil onto the part, which puts a durable, high-contrast mark on materials that will not take a direct laser mark at all. Laser trimming is not marking. It removes a measured amount of material from a resistor or conductive track to bring a circuit to a target value, working in a closed loop with measurement equipment — the laser cuts, the instrument reads, and the cycle repeats until the value is in tolerance.
