The Technology
How CO₂ marking works
A CO₂ laser produces a far longer 10.6 µm wavelength than a fibre or diode-pumped source. Organic and non-metallic materials absorb that wavelength readily, so the beam does its work on exactly the substrates the shorter-wavelength markers struggle with.
That makes CO₂ the right tool for acrylic, timber, glass, leather, card, packaging film and painted or coated surfaces — engraving, cutting light stock, and date- or batch-coding on the line. Bare metal is the exception: CO₂ reflects off it, so metal marking either needs a marking compound or belongs on a fibre or diode-pumped machine instead.
