AL-DV Wire Feeder

Consistent filler wire delivery, manual or automated

ALPHA LASER AL-DV wire feeder with feed head and spool holder

Overview

Consistent filler wire delivery, manual or automated

The AL-DV feeds filler wire into the weld pool at a controlled, repeatable rate — the difference between a laser weld that builds up cleanly and one that runs short of material halfway along the seam. It fits the full ALPHA LASER welding range, from the closed benchtop systems through to the mobile units, and works either hand-held or fed directly into an automated setup.

Two units, one job

The AL-DV is a feed unit and a control unit working together. The feed unit sits at the work and delivers wire; the control unit sets speed and monitors what is actually happening at the tip. Feed rate is continuously adjustable from 0.5 to 150 mm/s, so the same feeder covers delicate build-up on fine tooling and fast filling on a structural seam.

Sensing is what keeps it out of trouble. The system detects the end of the wire, monitors for freezing at the tip, and verifies that wire is genuinely being fed — so a fault stops the job rather than quietly producing a run of unfilled welds.

Features

  • Wire diameters from 0.2 mm to 1.6 mm.
  • Continuously adjustable feed speed, 0.5–150 mm/s.
  • Two operating modes: manual handpiece, or fed directly at the unit.
  • Wire-end detection, freeze monitoring and feed verification.
  • Adjustment wheels for precise alignment across multiple planes.
  • Compact and light at roughly 5 kg — minimal bench space required.
  • Fits mobile (ALM, ALFlak), open (AL SERIES, AL-IN) and closed (ALW, ALV, ALO) systems.

Technical data

  • Wire diameter: 0.2–1.6 mm
  • Feed speed: 0.5–150 mm/s, continuously adjustable
  • Feed unit dimensions: 190 × 180 × 200 mm
  • Weight: approximately 5 kg
  • Adjustment range: ±8 mm (X); ±20 mm (X/Y and Y/Z planes)
  • Operating temperature: 10–30 °C
  • Storage temperature: 0–60 °C
  • Monitoring: wire end, freezing, feed verification

Compatibility

The AL-DV integrates with all ALPHA LASER welding systems. Machines running WINLaser software need the matching control unit, so it is worth confirming your software version before ordering — GWB will check this against your machine's serial number.

If you are welding rotationally symmetric parts, the AL-DV pairs naturally with the AL-RD-M rotating axis: the axis turns the component while the feeder maintains material supply, giving a continuous filled circumferential weld in one operation.
